<p>The Free Software Foundation Europe, Unionen and the Royal Institute of Technology are pleased to invite you to a lecture with Dr. Richard Stallman: </p> <p>The Free Software Movement and the GNU/Linux Operating System </p> <p>Richard Stallman will speak about the goals and philosophy of the Free Software Movement, and the status and history of the GNU operating system, which in combination with the kernel Linux is now used by tens of millions of users world-wide. </p> <p>Dr. Stallman is the founder of the GNU project and president of the Free Software Foundation. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Glasgow, Free University of Brussels and Universidad Nacional de Salta. Filmen handlar synen på djur idag och hur de behandlas av vinstdrivande företag. Today, digitization revolutionizes the production of literature as well as science. New forms of collaboration emerge in Internet-based fan communities as well as in the Arts and Sciences. Challenging traditional notions of what it means to be a creator as well as a user, legislation lags behind. Stakeholders representing cultural heritage institutions, individual artists, scientists, and scholars note with great concern that we need, not the overstretched and counterproductive intellectual property system that we seem to be moving towards with alarming speed, but a sustainable balance between the rights of creators and the rights of users—at least if we want to ensure the continued production of cultural heritage and new innovations. <p>Torsdagen <strong>17 maj klockan 19:00</strong> kommer Richard Stallman till <strong>Linköping</strong> för att föreläsa om »Copyright vs Community in the Age of Computer Networks«. Föreläsningen kommer att hållas i C4, hus C, Campus Valla, <a href="http://www.liu.se/">Linköpings Universitet</a>. </p> <p>Following up on <a href="http://handgranat.org/Kalendarium/2007-05-16_Rms">his talk in Göteborg</a>, Richard Stallman will talk on the issue of copyright, a system developed in the age of the printing press designed to fit with the system of centralized copying imposed by the printing press, but which does not fit well with computer networks. </p> <p>The global corporations that profit from copyright are lobbying for draconian punishments, and to increase their copyright powers, while suppressing public access to technology. But if we seriously hope to serve the only legitimate purpose of copyright—to promote progress, for the benefit of the public—then we must make changes in the other direction. </p> <p>Richard Stallman will also suggest changes to the <a href="http://www2.piratpartiet.se/principer">Pirate Party program</a>, in order to avoid the unintended consequence of giving proprietary software an advantage over free software. </p> <p>Arrangör: <a href="http://www.digifri.org/sv">Digifri</a> — studentföreningen för digitala fri- och rättigheter </p>
