Richard Stallmans föreläsning i Stockholm 2008

The Free Software Foundation Europe, Unionen and the Royal Institute of Technology are pleased to invite you to a lecture with Dr. Richard Stallman:

The Free Software Movement and the GNU/Linux Operating System

Richard Stallman will speak about the goals and philosophy of the Free Software Movement, and the status and history of the GNU operating system, which in combination with the kernel Linux is now used by tens of millions of users world-wide.

Dr. Stallman is the founder of the GNU project and president of the Free Software Foundation. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Glasgow, Free University of Brussels and Universidad Nacional de Salta. In 1990, he was the receiver of a Macarthur foundation fellowship and has been elected member of the US National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Torsdagen den 27:e september visar vi filmen Earthlings på Elsas hus. Filmen handlar synen på djur idag och hur de behandlas av vinstdrivande företag. Den är baserad på film som är tagen med dolda kameror och visar vad som verkligen händer bakom köttindustrins stängda dörrar. I den här filmen får man helt enkelt se vad som döljer sig bakom kameraförbud, staket och slogans som »bry dej om vad du äter«.

Uppsala University, Friday, September 21st, 2007

File sharing, peer-to-peer, Open Access, Creative Commons, Piratbyrån and Anti-Piratbyrån; any given day media overflows with references to these and similar phenomena. Today, digitization revolutionizes the production of literature as well as science. New forms of collaboration emerge in Internet-based fan communities as well as in the Arts and Sciences. Challenging traditional notions of what it means to be a creator as well as a user, legislation lags behind. Stakeholders representing cultural heritage institutions, individual artists, scientists, and scholars note with great concern that we need, not the overstretched and counterproductive intellectual property system that we seem to be moving towards with alarming speed, but a sustainable balance between the rights of creators and the rights of users—at least if we want to ensure the continued production of cultural heritage and new innovations. Using Fairly is an international one-day conference focused on the complicated relationship between copyright and creativity and an activity within the project »Culture, Creativity, Copyright: The Making and (un)Making of Cultural Heritage«.

Idiomdrottning cinema

Idiomdrottning has created music and sound effects for two of the short animated movies shown tonight at Roxy, Visby, Sweden at 1900. The movies are Soma by My, Fredrik et al, and Var är den jävla meningen? by Josephine.

På lördagen den nittonde maj kommer jag att suga kuk bakom 7-Eleven i närheten av Järntorget i Göteborg. Se till att vara nytvättad och fräsch. Jag kan även tänka mig att ge konstruktiv kritik till oljemålningar i samband med detta, dock högst två per person. Vid regn, täck tavlorna med presenningar.

Richard Stallmans föreläsning i Linköping 2007

Torsdagen 17 maj klockan 19:00 kommer Richard Stallman till Linköping för att föreläsa om »Copyright vs Community in the Age of Computer Networks«. Föreläsningen kommer att hållas i C4, hus C, Campus Valla, Linköpings Universitet.

Copyright vs Community in the Age of Computer Networks

Following up on his talk in Göteborg, Richard Stallman will talk on the issue of copyright, a system developed in the age of the printing press designed to fit with the system of centralized copying imposed by the printing press, but which does not fit well with computer networks.

The global corporations that profit from copyright are lobbying for draconian punishments, and to increase their copyright powers, while suppressing public access to technology. But if we seriously hope to serve the only legitimate purpose of copyright—to promote progress, for the benefit of the public—then we must make changes in the other direction.

Richard Stallman will also suggest changes to the Pirate Party program, in order to avoid the unintended consequence of giving proprietary software an advantage over free software.

Richard Stallmans föreläsning i Göteborg 2007

Free Software Foundation Europe och Göteborgs Universitet inbjuder till en föreläsning med Richard Stallman 16 maj klockan 17.00 på biografen Draken, Olof Palmes Plats, Göteborg. Richard Stallman kommer att prata om målet och filosofin bakom fri programvara och hur idéerna bakom fri programvara kan omfatta andra publicerade verk. Han kommer även att prata om och föreslå en förändring till Piratpartiets program, för att undvika att skapa en preferens för proprietär programvara.

Föreläsningen är gratis, men arrangörerna vill gärna att du registrerar dig i förväg.

Observera att det är många som har registrerat sig för föreläsningen, och vi rekommenderar dig därför att vara där i god tid. Såväl före som efter föreläsningen finns FSFE på plats, och kommer bland annat att sälja kopior av Richard Stallmans bok Free Software, Free Society.

Föreläsningen kommer också att spelas in och göras tillgänglig i efterhand för de som är intresserade.
